Wolverines junior running back Justice Haynes is set to miss significant time to undergo foot surgery, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

Haynes suffered the injury in the second half of Michigan’s 31-20 win over Michigan State on Oct. 25, and missed the Wolverines following game against Purdue on Saturday.

The Alpharetta, Ga., native previously missed six quarters of action — including the entire win over Washington — prior to the Wolverines’ win over the Spartans after going down with an abdominal/rib injury during the Wolverines 31-13 loss to USC on Oct. 11.

The current timetable for the injury is unknown, though the Wolverines are hoping to get Haynes back before the end of the season.

In seven games of action, Haynes has been one of the nation’s most effective rushers. The junior back has totaled 857 yards on 121 carries for an average of 7.1 yards per carry, the fourth-best average in the country. Haynes is also second in the nation to Jacksonville St. running back Cam Cook with an average of 122.4 rushing yards per game.

Sophomore running back Jordan Marshall has stepped up in the absence of Haynes, rushing for 110 yards and a score against Michigan State and a career-high 183 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Purdue. Marshall also rushed for 133 yards and a score in Michigan’s 24-7 victory against Washington.
