Michigan has fired head coach Sherrone Moore with cause. In a statement released by Michigan Athletic Director Warde Manuel, Michigan found credible evidence that head coach Sherrone Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a Michigan staffer.

According to the statement, Michigan has named associate head coach Biff Poggi as the team’s interim head coach.

Moore, who took over for Jim Harbaugh after he departed the program to go to the NFL, helped lead the Wolverines to an 8-5 record in 2024 and a 9-3 record in the regular season this year.

Moore helped lead Michigan to a 13-10 upset over Ohio State last season, but in what will be his last game coaching the Wolverines, his team lost to the Buckeyes 27-9 this season.

Michigan is set to face Texas in the Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated as new information is available.
