It was revealed recently that Lee Corso’s final appearance on ESPN’s popular “College Gameday” show will be in Columbus for the highly-anticipated matchup between Ohio State and Texas in Week 1 of the 2025 season.
But Corso’s son, Dan Corso wishes the network had decided differently when it came to where his fathers last appearance would be, given the family history.
Another game that week is Alabama visiting Florida State. Lee Corso was a quarterback and cornerback for the Seminoles from 1953-56 while also playing baseball, and many others in his family graduated from the university as well.
“As a family of Seminoles, yes, it was disappointing,” Dan Corso told the Tallahassee Democrat. “At the same time, it will be fun to watch his last ‘Gameday’ and headgear in Columbus.”
While Corso won’t return to Tallahassee for his last headgear selection — a tradition that the network said would be retired when the longtime analyst leaves — it will be somewhat of a full circle moment since his first-ever headgear selection was picking Ohio State to beat Penn State on Oct. 5, 1996.
He has also donned the Brutus Buckeye headgear more than he has any other mascot’s, choosing Ohio State to win 45 times in the last 29 years, which is seven more than Alabama, which is second to the Buckeyes.
It will be the 26th time Corso comes to Columbus with “College Gameday” with Ohio State going 19-6 in those games so far.
