Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week following the No. 1 Buckeyes 70-0 beatdown of Grambling State Saturday.

Sayin had a career day against the Tigers, completing 18 of 19 passes for 306 yards and four touchdowns.

The Buckeyes’ sophomore quarterback completed his first 16 passes of the afternoon before throwing his only incompletion — an interception.

Midway through the first quarter, Sayin tossed the second-longest touchdown pass in Ohio State history on a 87-yard bomb to star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, trailing only Kenny Guiton and Devin Smith’s 90-yard connection in 2013.

A former five-star product of Carlsbad, Calif., Sayin has led the Buckeyes to a 2-0 start and the No. 1 national ranking. He has completed 31 of 39 attempts for 432 yards and five touchdowns in two starts this season.
