Former Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins found a new NFL home on Tuesday when he signed a one-year, $5.25 million deal with the Denver Broncos.
Dobbins, who played for Ohio State from 2017-19, has seen his NFL career hampered by multiple season-ending injuries. After being selected with a second-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2020 draft and subsequently rushing for 800 yards as a rookie, Dobbins missed the entire 2021 season with a torn ACL injury suffered during the preseason. Dobbins rushed for 520 yards in 2022, but he suffered a season-ending torn achilles injury in week one of the following year.
Despite missing a few games during the second half of the 2024 season with an MCL sprain, Dobbins managed to have a career-best season with the Chargers last year. The former Buckeye rushed for 903 yards and 9 touchdowns on 195 carries.
Dobbins, who rushed for 4,459 yards and 38 touchdowns on the way to earning three All-Big Ten selections in three years at Ohio State, will now join a Broncos squad coming off a 31-7 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the wild card round of the playoffs.
In Denver, Dobbins will compete with a stable of Broncos running backs, including former Notre Dame rusher Audric Estime and 2025 second-round pick RJ Harvey, to be the team’s starter.
