Ohio State gained another commitment in its 2026 class when Delaware (Ohio) Rutherford B. Hayes four-star running back Favour Akih (6-0, 190) pledged his services to the Buckeyes on Sunday on the final day of his official visit weekend.

He is the 14th commitment in the 2026 class, but the first running back that position coach Carlos Locklyn has been able to land this cycle. Akih chose the Buckeyes over Miami (Fla.) and USC.

Akih first got his scholarship offer from Locklyn on March 17 when he was on campus for the Buckeyes first spring practice. He had also visited Ohio State for the national championship celebration and the win over Nebraska last season.

Akih rushed for 1,600 yards and 19 touchdowns in his junior season in just nine games. He is the No. 205 player in the country, the No. 15 running back and the No. 8 player in the state of Ohio according to 247Sports.

He is also the sixth of the 14 commits from the state of Ohio, joining four-star offensive linemen Maxwell Riley and Sam Greer, four-star cornerback Jakob Weatherspoon four-star wide receiver Jaeden Ricketts, and three-star linebacker CJ Sanna. Five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. committed to the Buckeyes when he was still in Ohio, but has since moved to California to attend Mater Dei.
