Ohio State gained its eighth commitment in the 2027 class when four-star linebacker Quinton Cypher pledged his services to the Buckeyes on Friday.
Out of Raleigh (N.C.) Millbrook, Cypher is the No. 194 player in the country and the 11th-ranked linebacker in his class, according to 247Sports composite rankings.
He had a very strong junior season with 181 tackles, 48 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, five passes broken up, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries. In three high school seasons at Millbrook, Cypher has a total of 511 tackles, according to MaxPreps.
He chose Ohio State over Alabama, Georgia and Miami (Fla.), narrowing his 33 offers down to those four schools.
Cypher is the third defensive player in the 2027 class for the Buckeyes, joining four-star safety Eli Johnson and three-star safety Angelo Smith, the brother of OSU wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.
He also joins five-star wide receiver Jamier Brown, four-star quarterback Brady Edmunds, four-star offensive tackles Kellen Wymer and Brody McNeel and three-star interior offensive lineman Mason Wilt.
