Former UCLA and Maryland quarterback Justyn Martin has reportedly transferred to Ohio State, according to On3’s Greg Biggins.
Martin began his collegiate career at UCLA in 2022, where he spent three seasons with the Bruins from 2022-24, while preserving a year of eligibility by redshirting as a freshman.
The 6-4, 210-pound quarterback entered the transfer portal on Dec. 2, 2024 and committed to Maryland just 20 days later. In his three years at UCLA, Martin completed 24 of 35 passes for 179 yards and one passing touchdown, while adding 12 rushes for 12 yards. He started just once for the Bruins.
In his only season at Maryland, Martin backed up former high four-star quarterback Malik Washington and did not throw a pass in 2025, but took one carry for two yards.
A product of Inglewood (Calif.), the 6-4, 210-pound quarterback was originally listed as the No. 295 overall recruit and the No. 20 quarterback in the class of 2022, according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings. Martin was ranked as the No. 491 overall transfer and the 35th-ranked quarterback in the portal.
Martin is the eighth transfer to commit to Ohio State this season joining safeties Earl Little Jr. (Florida State) and Terry Moore (Duke), tight ends Hunter Welcing (Northwestern) and Mason Williams (Ohio), linebacker Christian Alliegro (Wisconsin), wide receiver Devin McCuin (UTSA), and long snapper Dalton Riggs and defensive lineman John Walker of Central Florida.
Martin will have one year of eligibility remaining, with a chance for an extra year via a medical hardship waiver after appearing in just one game last season.
