Former Ohio State and current New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields suffered a setback in training camp on Thursday when he dislocated his toe after getting stepped on, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
Fields, who signed a 2-year $40 million deal with the Jets during the offseason, reportedly limped off the field after the injury and had to be carted to the locker room. The severity of Fields’ injury is still unknown, according to Rapoport.
Fields only played for the Buckeyes from 2019-20, but he made quite an impact. The 6-3 quarterback was named a second-team All-American in 2019 and then was the Big Ten’s Most Valuable Player in 2020.
If Fields can regain his health in time for the regular season, he will once again get the chance to throw to former Ohio State receiver Garrett Wilson. Wilson was selected by the Jets with the 10th overall pick in the 2022 draft and recently signed a four-year extension with the team.
