Ohio State sophomore running back James Peoples has found a new home in the transfer portal, committing to Penn State after two seasons with the Buckeyes, according to On3 Sports.
Peoples carried the football 110 times for 541 yards in his two years at Ohio State, and took 61 rushes for 344 yards and three touchdowns in his sophomore campaign in 2025.
Peoples transfers to Penn State seeking more playing time after coming into the season projected to be one of Ohio State’s top running backs, but falling to fourth in the room behind senior CJ Donaldson Jr., as well as freshmen Bo Jackson and Isaiah West. The 5-10, 206-pound back will look to replace Penn State seniors Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen in the Nittany Lions backfield, as both have exhausted their eligibility.
Peoples is the fifth Buckeye to announce his transfer destination, joining sophomore punter Nick McLarty (Arizona State), linebacker C.J. Hicks (South Florida), Bryce West (Wisconsin) and quarterback Lincoln Kienholz (Louisville).
