Ohio State basketball gained a huge commitment in the 2026 class when five-star small forward Anthony Thompson pledged his services to the Buckeyes on Tuesday.
Thompson is the highest-rated prospect to commit to Ohio State since Jarred Sullinger in the 2010 recruiting class. He’s also the first five-star recruit the Buckeyes have landed since D’Angelo Russell in the 2014 class.
Thompson is ranked the No. 8 player in the country in his class, the No. 2 small forward and the No. 1 player in the state of Ohio. He chose the Buckeyes over Indiana.
He joins four-star point guard Marcus Johnson and four-star power forward Alex Smith in the 2026 recruiting class, bringing the Buckeyes up to the third-ranked class in the country, according to 247Sports.
Diebler has done well recruiting in the state of Ohio. Smith recently transferred to Prolific Prep in Florida, but he was at Upper Arlington in Columbus when he committed to the Buckeyes. Johnson is out of Cleveland Garfield Heights, and Thompson comes out of Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio.
