Eddrick Houston At Day Two Practice With A Knee Brace, Did Not Participate In Drills

Just one day after Eddrick Houston went down with an injury in the last period of practice, he was back on the field with his teammates.

He had a knee brace on his right leg and was able to participate in stretches, but he didn’t do any drills with the defensive tackles and watched for most activities.

But even though he wasn’t able to do much on Friday, seeing Houston up and walking around was very encouraging for Ohio State since it seems like the injury isn’t serious, as ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Thursday night.

If Houston is able to make it back for the game against Texas — which his timetable for return is unclear at this point — then it could be an opportunity for defensive tackles down the depth chart to get some extra work in and prove that they deserve more playing time.

The depth on the interior defensive line is one of the bigger concerns for Ohio State this season, but Will Smith Jr., Tywone Malone and Jason Moore are the top candidates to earn playing time behind Houston and Kayden McDonald, who seem likely to slot in as the starters this year.
