Get to know Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., who signed with the Buckeyes on Wednesday.

Height, Weight: 6-5, 205

247Sports Composite Ranking: Henry is the No. 10 prospect in the country, the No. 1 wide receiver and the No. 1 player in California.

Commitment Date: Henry committed to Ohio State on July, 28, 2023. He was the first player in the class to pledge to the Buckeyes.

Other Offers: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, Wisconsin.

How He Did In High School: After dealing with an injury for much of his junior season, Henry was back to his elite ways with Mater Dei as a senior. He had over 100 yards receiving in three separate games, with one reaching 213 receiving yards and two touchdowns

Where He Fits For 2026: Anyone that is familiar with Ohio State football knows that recently, the wide receiver room has been elite. With Carnell Tate likely leaving, there will be a spot on the outside open, but nobody is taking Jeremiah Smith’s spot. Quincy Porter has had a good amount of playing time for a true freshman, and Mylan Graham and Bryson Rodgers will also be contenders to take Tate’s spot. It will be extremely tough for Henry to get on the field consistently as a freshman at Ohio State. However, if he proves to be good enough to play as a freshman, he will play. The Buckeyes showed that last season with Smith.
