After a long recruiting battle where it took wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. two extra days to come to a decision, the five-star prospect has officially announced that he intends to sign with Ohio State, he said via the Pat McAfee Show Friday afternoon.
Henry has been committed to Ohio State since July 28, 2023, though after Buckeyes offensive coordinator Brian Hartline accepted a head coaching position at South Florida, the receiver decided to take extra time to reevaluate his decision. Henry’s other top choice, Oregon, also lost offensive coordinator Will Stein to a head coaching gig at Kentucky, convoluting the wideouts choice even more.
According to 247Sports composite rankings, Henry is the No. 10 player in the nation, the No. 1 wide receiver and the No. 1 player in California in the class of 2026.
Henry was originally between Ohio State, Oregon and USC on signing day, as the receiver posted an image of a Buckeyes, Ducks and Trojans hats on his socials, but Texas and LSU made late runs at the five-star as well.
Henry will be the last of the Buckeyes’ 27 recruits to sign with Ohio State during the early signing period, barring any late flips.
