When the conference preseason team was released on Tuesday, senior guard Bruce Thornton was one of 10 players included.
Thornton is entering his final season of eligibility for the Buckeyes after last season when he averaged 17.7 points, 4.6 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game while making 50.1 percent of his shots.
His performance last season earned him a spot on the All-Big Ten second team.
He is included on the preseason All-Big Ten team alongside senior Iowa guard Bennett Stirtz, graduate Michigan forward Yaxel Lendelborg, senior Northwestern forward Nick Martinelli, senior Oregon center Nate Bittle, junior Oregon guard Jackson Shelstad, senior Purdue forward Trey Kaufman-Renn, senior Purdue guard Braden Smith, senior UCLA guard Donovan Dent and junior Wisconsin guard John Blackwell.
Purdue’s Smith was named the preseason conference player of the year for the second straight season. He was also the only unanimous selection of the 10 players. It’s also the third straight year that the honor goes to a Boilermaker after Zach Edey was before the 2023-24 season.
