
For his standout performance in the 38-14 win over Penn State, junior linebacker Arvell Reese has earned national recognition.
Reese is the Chuck Bednarik National Defensive Player of the Week after his 12-tackle game, which included 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack. He helped the Buckeyes No. 1 defense hold Penn State to 200 total yards of offense, 60 in the second half.
Reese is in the middle of a breakout season for Ohio State, with 54 tackles, nine of which have been for loss and 6.5 sacks. He has also had two quarterback hurries and two pass breakups.
He and fellow starting linebacker Sonny Styles were named semifinalists for the Butkus Award on Tuesday. Reese was also named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday for his performance against the Nittany Lions.
This is Reese’s first time getting conference and national recognition this season.;
