Cleveland Richmond Heights four-star shooting guard Dorian Jones (6-3, 160) will officially reopen his recruitment after he reportedly requested his release from Ohio State on Wednesday. The news came just five days after he announced that he would no longer be enrolling at Ohio State for the 2025-26 season and would instead join a junior college or high school preparatory school.
“As I reflect on my development, this next year is an opportunity for me to grow more prior to college,” Jones said in a since-deleted Instagram post last Friday. “I won’t be enrolling at Ohio State this year but I look forward to continuing our relationship.”
Jones’ decision to pursue other options other than Ohio State was due to academic eligibility issues, according to multiple reports. Attending a post-graduate prep school would allow him to improve his academic standing while also developing on the court as he prepares for the next level. But that will no longer be at Ohio State, which has quickly pivoted from Jones’ announcement by adding both Myles Herro and Mathieu Grujicic to the incoming 2025 freshman class.
