Four-Star Cornerback Dijon Johnson Decommits From Ohio State
The Buckeyes’ recruiting class took a blow on Saturday as Tampa (Fla.) Wharton four-star cornerback Dijon Johnson (6-1, 190) announced that he is decommitting from Ohio State.
Johnson is the No. 93 overall prospect and No. 10 cornerback in the class, and had committed to the Buckeyes back in April shortly after the spring game, at the time just the ninth commitment in Ohio State’s class.
The decommitment comes after Johnson took a visit to Florida this weekend, which is considered his top destination now that he is out of Ohio State’s class.
Johnson’s decommitment leaves Ohio State with just three cornerbacks in the class: Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove four-star Kayin Lee (5-11, 185), Cincinnati Winton Woods four-star Jermaine Mathews (6-0, 175) and Waxahachie, Texas, four-star Calvin Simpson-Hunt (6-0, 175), though Johnson was the highest-rated of the group.
If Ohio State decides to bring that number back up to four, other potential targets could include Arlington (Texas) Martin four-star Javien Toviano (6-0, 185) or Roswell, Ga., four-star Ethan Nation (5-10, 165), both of whom are uncommitted and have been offered by the Buckeyes.
Ohio State’s class now has 19 commitments, which includes Atlanta (Ga.) Douglass four-star quarterback Brock Glenn (6-2, 195), who committed to the Buckeyes on Saturday. Johnson’s decommitment drops the Buckeyes down to the No. 2 class in the nation behind Notre Dame.
