Early Signing Period: Four-Star OL Austin Siereveld Signs With Ohio State

Get to know Middletown (Ohio) Lakota East four-star offensive lineman Austin Siereveld, who signed his national letter of intent with Ohio State on Wednesday.

Height, Weight: 6-5, 320.

247 Composite Rankings: He’s rated as the 248th overall prospect, 12th-best interior lineman and the No. 7 recruit out of Ohio.

Commitment Date: Siereveld committed to Ohio State on May 4.

Other Offers: Alabama, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee, Toledo, West Virginia.

How he did in high school: Siereveld was a four-year starter for Lakota East, helping anchor the offensive line for the Thunderhawks. He helped Lakota East rush for 182.7 yards per game this season, third-most in the Greater Miami Conference, and was named first-team All-GMC and first-team All-Ohio in Division I.

Why he committed to Ohio State: Siereveld, one of the top in-state prospects in this cycle, long viewed Ohio State as his destination of choice. He made several visits to Ohio State during the 2021 season and made the rounds again this past spring before pulling the trigger on his commitment.

“It was home for me from the beginning,” Siereveld said during his commitment ceremony. “I just want to compete and hopefully play as soon as possible and make the guys better in front of me and behind me, and hopefully we win a natty.”

Where he fits in for 2023: Siereveld played at tackle for Lakota East but will likely transition to the interior once he arrives at Ohio State. The Buckeyes have a returning starter at left guard in Donovan Jackson and a presumed starter in Enokk Vimahi, assuming Matthew Jones leaves, which will leave Siereveld fighting for a spot in the two-deep.

Ohio State’s depth on the offensive line has been questionable over the past couple of seasons, so there could be an opportunity for the freshman to make an impact, though Siereveld’s fellow offensive linemen in his class will also push for those spots.
