Women’s Hockey: Ohio State Earns Top Seed In NCAA Tournament For Third Straight Year
Just a day after losing in the WCHA championship, the Ohio State women’s hockey team received the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA women’s hockey tournament, making it the third straight year they will go into it as the top-rated team.
The Buckeyes lost to Wisconsin 6-3 on Saturday, the second time they fell to the Badgers this year, but the overall body of work over the regular season of their 29-3 record was enough to keep the top seed.
Last season, Wisconsin knocked Ohio State off in the national championship, and the Badgers earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament this year.
Eleven teams made the tournament and Ohio State is looking to win its second-ever national title after taking the trophy home for the first time two years ago by beating Minnesota Duluth 3-2 in the National Championship game.
The tournament begins on March 14 and the Buckeyes first game will be against the winner of Minnesota Duluth and UConn. Their game will be at the OSU Ice Rink on Saturday, March 16 at 4 p.m.
