Wide Receiver Damarion Witten Shed Black Stripe

Sophomore wide receiver Damarion Witten became an “official” member of the team when he shed his black stripe after Tuesday’s practice.

Witten came to Ohio State as a tight end out of Glenville High School in Cleveland. He was ranked the No. 465 player in the country and the No. 19 player in the state of Ohio as a prospect in the 2024 class.

He quickly made the switch to wide receiver when he got to Columbus, but hasn’t been able to carve a role out for himself yet in the ultra-talented room.

Losing his black stripe is the first step for him in trying to become a contributor, but it will be tough for him to earn minutes this year with the loaded depth chart he has in front of him at the position.

Witten is the 11th player to lose his black stripe this fall camp and the first wide receiver. Freshman wide receiver Quincy Porter shed his black stripe during spring practices. He is the 17th in 2025 to do so.
