Walk-On Defensive Back Glorien Gough Earns Black Stripe

The newest Ohio State Buckeye to shed his Black Stripe isn’t a scholarship player, but a walk-on.
Former Ohio State club football player and second-year defensive back Glorien Gough earned his black stripe for Ohio State Nov. 5.
Gough spent 2023 with the Buckeyes’ club football team, racking up 38 tackles, five pass breakups and four interceptions in nine games in his freshman season. Hailing from Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., Gough joined Ohio State as a walk-on in 2024 and spent the past two years developing before officially losing his black stripe.
Gough has made one appearance for Ohio State in 2025, earning a single rep as a member of the kickoff coverage during the Buckeyes’ 70-0 thrashing of Grambling State.
Ohio State’s black stripe tradition remains one of the Buckeyes main indicators of internal progress as Gough’s moment reflects both his behind-the-scenes work and the impact he’s already made.
