Three-Star Defensive Lineman Jamir Perez Flips Commitment From Florida To Ohio State

Defensive line coach Larry Johnson gained his fourth commitment in the 2026 class within a month of time when Cleveland Glenville three-star defensive lineman Jamir Perez flipped his commitment from Florida to Ohio State on Friday.
He joins four-star edge rusher Khary Wilder, four-star defensive lineman Damari Simeon and three-star defensive lineman Cameron Brickle in Johnson’s group. He is also the second commitment in the class from the Glenville to Ohio State pipeline, joining his teammate, four-star linebacker Cincere Johnson as a Buckeye commit.
Overall, Perez is the 21st commitment in the class, helping the Buckeyes remain as the fifth-ranked recruiting class in the nation. Perez is the No. 679 overall prospect in the country, the No. 74 defensive lineman and the No. 29 player in the state of Ohio.
He took his official visit to Ohio State the weekend of June 13-15 after originally committing to the Gators on May 18, two days after the official visit he took to Gainesville. He also visited Vanderbilt, Wisconsin, Iowa State, Cincinnati and Purdue recently.
The Buckeyes also still hope to add more to its defensive line in the 2026 class, with their eyes still on four-star defensive tackle Deuce Geralds and four-star defensive end KJ Ford, among others.
