Ryan Day’s Son, RJ Day, Commits To Northwestern

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day’s son, RJ Day, a three-star quarterback in the 2027 class, will soon be on the roster of a Big Ten foe after he committed to Northwestern on May 10.
RJ Day is a three-star quarterback out of Columbus St. Francis de Sales, and is the No. 1,361 overall prospect in the class and the No. 86 quarterback.
Former Buckeye offensive coordinator Chip Kelly was hired at Northwestern over the offseason, so Day will play for Kelly, just as Ryan Day did when he was in college at New Hampshire, where he started for three seasons from 1998-2001.
RJ Day started last season for DeSales and finished the year with 2,710 passing yards and 25 touchdowns, which were single-season school records. He was able to do so partly due to a 482-yard performance in a playoff win over Ashland.
Over his high school career, Day has accumulated 5,710 passing yards and 54 touchdowns, which has allowed him to earn 18 Division I offers. Those offers included Boston College, Cincinnati, Purdue, Syracuse and South Florida.
The Wildcats didn’t get in on Day’s recruitment until April 29, when they offered the quarterback. However, it didn’t take long for Day to get to campus, taking an official visit over the weekend, which led to him committing to head coach David Braun.
Day will also be playing for quarterbacks coach Jerry Neuheisel, who joined Northwestern over the offseason after he spent eight years at UCLA, taking over playcalling duties last season and helping the Bruins go on a run midseason.
