Reports: Former Ohio State Quarterback Justin Fields Traded To Kansas City Chiefs

Former Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is headed to Kansas City, according to multiple reports. After struggling last year as the starting quarterback of the NFL’s New York Jets, Fields was traded on Monday for a sixth-round pick to the Chiefs.

Fields had adequate numbers last year with the Jets. Over nine starts, he completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 1,259 yards, seven touchdowns and an interception. However, during those nine starts, the Jets went just 2-7, and he was benched toward the end of the season before dealing with an injury and ultimately being placed on injured reserve.

The Chiefs have arguably the best quarterback in the league, Patrick Mahomes on their roster, but he is recovering from a torn ACL injury and may be limited to start the season.

As a Buckeye, Fields showed his potential. He was a two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year before being selected with the 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
