Report: Former Ohio State Tight End Gee Scott Jr. To Sign With New York Jets

Just months removed from a stint in the United Football League, former Ohio State tight end Gee Scott Jr. is signing with the New York Jets, per Connor Hughes of SNY.
According to Hughes, Scott reportedly lost weight and is looking to get a fresh start as he switches from tight end to wide receiver with the Jets.
The 6-3, 243-pound Scott originally signed with Ohio State as a four-star wide receiver in the 2020 recruiting class out of Eastside Catholic in Sammamish, Washington. Ranked as the No. 10 wide receiver in the nation by the 247Sports Composite, he arrived in Columbus with high expectations before ultimately transitioning to tight end just one season into his Buckeye career.
Over five seasons with Ohio State, he recorded 47 receptions for 393 yards and four touchdowns, including a career-best 27 catches for 253 yards and two scores during his final season in 2024, helping the Buckeyes capture a national championship to cap his collegiate career.
After going undrafted in 2024, Scott signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent, but was waived before final roster cuts. He then signed with the Washington Commanders practice squad for the remainder of the season, but did not see the field.
Scott was most recently selected during the UFL’s free agent draft by the Columbus Aviators in January. However, he was released just one month into the season.
Scott will look to officially crack an NFL roster as he joins fellow Buckeye wideout and former teammate Garrett Wilson in New York’s receiver room, where the 2022 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year has already established himself as one of the league’s best at the position.
