Report: Former Ohio State DC Schiano Joining New England Patriots

Defensive coordinator Greg Schiano parted ways with Ohio State earlier this month in pursuit of NFL opportunities, and he seems to have found his spot.

Schiano, who led Ohio State’s defense from 2016-18, is likely to join the New England Patriots in a “to defensive role,” according to a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and NFL.com. Rapoport said in a tweet that Schiano was in Mobile, Ala., at the Senior Bowl in order to pursue his NFL options.

Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores is set to take over as the Miami Dolphins head coach after New England faces the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl on Feb. 3. Flores was the play caller on defense this season – the role Schiano would likely assume, according to the report.
