Philadelphia Five-Star Quarterback Kyle McCord Signs With Ohio State

Philadelphia St. Joseph’s Prep five-star quarterback Kyle McCord officially ended his recruitment when he signed with Ohio State during the first day of the Early Signing Period on Wednesday.

The 6-3, 215-pound McCord is considered the third-best pro-style quarterback and No. 25 prospect overall in the class of 2021, as he threw for 6,887 yards and 88 passing touchdowns to lead the Hawks to three straight state titles.

McCord first visited Columbus in February 2019, where he spent a considerable amount of time with head coach Ryan Day and then-passing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach Mike Yurcich. He then returned for the spring game that April, which only solidified his thoughts in the program, and he committed to the Buckeyes just two weeks later over nearly 20 offers from programs such as Boston College, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech and West Virginia

McCord is the only quarterback in Ohio State’s 2021 recruiting class, though the Buckeyes already have a five-star signal caller committed for 2022 in Southlake (Texas) Carroll five-star Quinn Ewers.
