An NCAA-best seven Ohio State wrestlers earned Scholar All-American awards for 2018-19, marking the second straight season where Ohio State placed seven Buckeyes on the list to the list to lead the country.

The following members of the Ohio State wrestling team received the honor: Ke-Shawn Hayes (logistics management major), Malik Heinselman (business), Micah Jordan (sport industry), Joey McKenna (operations management), Kollin Moore (logistics management), Luke Pletcher (sport industry) and Kaleb Romero (marketing).

The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) honored a total of 142 D-I student-athletes as Scholar All-Americans. Thirty-nine of those wrestlers earned All-America honors in Pittsburgh at the NCAA Championships.

Four of those 39 elite student-athletes, who earned both All-American and Scholar All-American accolades, donned scarlet and gray in Jordan, McKenna, Moore and Pletcher.

Jordan and McKenna earned this academic honor three times while Hayes and Pletcher are each two-time winners with a year of eligibility remaining.

“Honoring individuals and teams who have set themselves apart in the classroom is one of the greatest ways we can preserve and grow our sport,” Mike Moyer, NWCA Executive Director said. “Wrestling is one of the top collegiate sports having first-generation college attendees and it’s great to see so many student-athletes taking advantage of the opportunity the sport has given them by pursuing excellence in the classroom as well as on the mat.”
