Ohio State’s Meechie Johnson, Zed Key Accept Invitations To U19 World Cup Training Camp
Ohio State men’s basketball sophomores, guard Meechie Johnson and forward Zed Key, both accepted invitations to attend the 2021 USA Basketball Men’s U19 World Cup Team training camp, which takes place in Fort Worth, Texas.
Johnson and Key are among the 27 players who accepted an invite. Johnson played in 17 games and averaged 1.2 points in 5.9 minutes per contest. He shot 38.9 percent from the field, but hit half of his 12 three-point attempts.
Key appeared in all 31 games and tallied 5.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 61.6 percent from the field and finished second on the team with 22 blocked shots.
The U19 team will eventually be cut down to 12 members and will compete from July 3-11 in Riga and Daugavpils, Latvia. The camp to narrow down the roster begins on June 20 and goes until June 22.
