Ohio State Women’s Basketball Adds Toledo Forward Tanaya Beacham As Graduate Transfer

Ohio State women’s basketball added a 12th player to its roster Tuesday with the graduate transfer of forward Tanaya Beaham out of Toledo.

As a graduate transfer, Beacham will be immediately eligible to play for the Buckeyes in 2020-21, which will be her final year of eligibility.

“Extremely excited to add Tanaya to the Buckeye family,” Ohio State head coach Kevin McGuff said in a press release. “Her talent, athleticism, and experience will be a great addition to the program.”

Beacham averaged 10.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game across 31 games last season at Toledo, starting in 20 of them while also shooting a team-high 58.3 percent from the field. She was also the team captain last season for the Rockets and played in 95 games across three seasons.

The arrival of Beacham gives the Buckeyes 11 active players on their 2020-21 roster, with Providence guard Hevynne Bristow out for this season due to NCAA transfer rules. Beacham will also be the lone fifth-year senior on the team and just the second senior, joining guard Braxtin Miller, who transferred to Ohio State out of Oklahoma State prior to last season.

Beacham also gives Ohio State five forwards on the roster, with juniors Dorka Juhasz and Aaliyah Patty, sophomore Rebeka Mikulasikova and freshman Gabby Hutcherson filling out the other four.
