Ohio State Wide Receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate Named Semifinalists For Biletnikoff Award

Ohio State’s pair of star wide receivers have both received semifinalist nominations for the Biletnikoff Award after 10 games.

Wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate were named two of 13 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award on Monday, which honors the nation’s most outstanding receiver in the FBS regardless of position.

Smith, who has been the Buckeyes most consistent weapon offensively in 2025, earned the recognition after hauling in 69 catches for 902 yards and 10 touchdowns this season. His marks rank the sophomore receiver in the top 10 in nearly every statistical category including touchdowns (T-3rd), receptions and receptions per game (7th), as well as yards and yards per game (9th).

Outside of his last performance (four catches) where he was limited to only the first half with an undisclosed injury, Smith has amassed over five receptions in every game this season, while adding four games of over 100-yards receiving.

Tate has missed the last two games for the Buckeyes due to injury, however, has still managed to rack up 39 catches for 711 yards and seven touchdowns in eight games. The junior wideout has also rushed twice for 16 yards.

The Chicago native ranks 19th in the FBS with 18.2 yards per catch, while having the third-most 40-plus yard receptions (8) in the nation.
