Ohio State Tight End Jelani Thurman Reportedly Set To Enter Transfer Portal

Just minutes after Ohio State’s 24-14 loss to Miami (Fla.) in the Cotton Bowl, tight end Jelani Thurman announced his intention to enter the transfer portal, his agent told On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Thurman has spent three seasons at Ohio State, including a 2023 campaign where he ultimately redshirted. For his career, Thurman has racked up 13 receptions for 144 yards and two touchdowns.
The Fairburn, Ga., native recorded seven receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown this season, highlighted by a three-catch, 44-yard, one-score performance in Ohio State’s 70-0 victory over Grambling State in Week 2.
Thurman’s agency told On3 that he plans to enter the portal once it officially opens on Jan. 2.
The 6-6, 250-pound tight end will have two seasons of eligibility left following his transfer from Ohio State. Thurman became the second Buckeye to announce his intention to enter the transfer portal this season, joining wide receiver Bryson Rodgers.
