Ohio State Reportedly To Hire Cortez Hankton As New Wide Receivers Coach

It didn’t take long after Ohio State’s season came to an end that the Buckeyes have reportedly found a new wide receivers coach.

They are set to hire Cortez Hankton, who was the wide receivers coach and co-offensive coordinator for LSU from 2024-25, according to multiple reports.

Hankton will replace Brian Hartline, who was with the Buckeyes since 2017 and is now officially off to South Florida for his first head coaching job after becoming one of the top position coaches with the Buckeyes.

Hankton played at Texas Southern before going undrafted in 2003, and he spent four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, playing in 46 games in his NFL career. He also had stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but didn’t get into a game with either team.

His coaching career began in 2012 when he was the wide receivers coach at Dartmouth, and he has made stops in the same position at Vanderbilt (2015-17), Georgia (2018-21) and LSU (2022-25).

It seems that head coach Ryan Day still has not made a decision on who will replace Hartline as offensive coordinator and play caller going into the 2026 season, but he will have time now to make that decision.
