Ohio State Redshirt Freshman Defensive End Omari Abor Plans To Enter Transfer Portal
Ohio State redshirt freshman defensive end Omari Abor announced Tuesday that he plans to enter the transfer portal after just two seasons with the Buckeyes.
“First and foremost, I’ll thank God for putting me in the position that he put me in today,” Abor posted on Instagram. “I wouldn’t have come this far without Him. I’ll love to thank my family for being on my side at all times throughout this whole process.
“I would like to thank all of the coaches and teammates who helped me along the way with the two years I’ve been here. I would also like to take the Ohio State fans for making me feel like home. But I have to do what’s best for me. With all that being said I will be entering my name in the transfer portal with three years of eligibility left.”
Abor was a four-star prospect out of Duncanville, Texas, in the 2022 recruiting class, but he played sparingly in his time at Ohio State due to several injuries. He appeared in just four games and finished with two tackles – including a tackle for loss – this season.
Ohio State’s depth at defensive end remains up in the air ahead of any potential bowl matchup, as the Buckeyes could also be without J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer, both of whom could potentially declare for the NFL draft since this is their third season of college football.
But with Abor only appearing in four games this season, second-year defensive ends Caden Curry and Kenyatta Jackson Jr. received the majority of snaps at defensive end outside of Sawyer and Tuimoloau, and the pair could take over as starters next season.
