Ohio State Names Players Of The Game Following 41-7 Win Over Purdue

Ohio State announced its players of the game after the 41-7 win over Purdue on Saturday. Offensive honors went to Cade Stover, while both J.T. Tuimoloau and Tyleik Williams were co-defensive players of the game. Jermaine Mathews Jr. was named for special teams.

Stover, the tight end, had four catches for 53 yards and was able to find the end zone twice for the Buckeyes. It was his second multi-score game of his career, the last one coming against Indiana last season. He also had a contested 23-yard back-shoulder catch at the end of the first quarter that kept a drive going into the red zone.

The defensive line had a great game as a whole, and Tuimoloau and Williams headlined that play. Tuimoloau finished with just two tackles but had 1½ sacks and a quarterback hurry. One of those sacks was in the second quarter when the Boilermakers had driven down to the Buckeyes 1-yard line, and after a holding penalty he teamed up with Jack Sawyer to take Hudson Card down 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage to force a field goal that would be shanked wide left.

Williams had three tackles of his own and was able to get up at the line to bat down two passes as well. Two of his tackles were for a loss. Williams now has five straight games with a tackle for a loss.

On two kickoffs after scores Mathews managed to make solo tackles, stopping Purdue at their own 19-yard line in the first quarter, and at their 20 in the second
