Ohio State Names Michael Adedokun, Makenna Webster Athletes Of The Year

Ohio State announced on Tuesday that Michael Adedokun of the men’s soccer team and Makenna Webster of both the field hockey and women’s ice hockey teams are its athletes if the year.

That honor from the university makes Adedokun and Webster eligible for the Big Ten Athlete of the Year award, which will be announced by the conference in July.

Adedokun was the first in OSU men’s soccer history to win the MAC Hermann Trophy, being named a first-team All-American thanks to his conference-leading 11 goalsn and 11 assists (33 points).

The soccer team finished 16-2-4 and was ranked No. 1 in the country for the NCAA tournament after winning the Big Ten tournament.

Webster played her third season with Ohio State field hockey and had 42 points, which led the team. It was the second straight year she had over 40 points. She earned first-team Big Ten honors and was a second-team All American.

During the ice hockey season, Webster had 35 points in just 30 games, joining the team late since the seasons of field hockey and ice hockey overlap. Still, she was able to help the team to its fourth straight appearance in the national title game.

Webster was also the female recipient of the Big Ten Medal of Honor for Ohio State.

Both Adedokun and Webster were fifth year seniors and have no more college eligibility.
