Ohio State Defensive Tackle Kayden McDonald Named A Semifinalist For The Outland Trophy
Ohio State defensive tackle Kayden McDonald has been nominated for as a semifinalist for the Outland Trophy Nov. 19, which is given annual to the top interior or exterior defensive lineman in the country
The 6-3, 326-pound defensive tackle has been dominant this season for the Buckeyes, racking up 44 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, and a quarterback hurry. McDonald has also forced two fumbles and recovered one fumble.
This season, McDonald also became the first Buckeye nose tackle since Johnathan Hankins in 2012 to record eight tackles in a game. However, McDonald didn’t just do it once, but twice, bringing down eight players against both Texas and Penn State. He also recorded seven tackles and three tackles for loss against Washington.
McDonald’s efforts have helped to be one of the catalysts of the Ohio State defense that ranks first in points allowed, yards allowed and second in both passing and rushing defense.
The native of Suwanee, Ga. is now the eight Buckeye nominated as a semifinalist for a national award.
