Notre Dame Kicker Marcello Diomede Transfers To Ohio State As Walk-On

Ohio State has picked up its third kicker of the offseason with former Notre Dame kicker Marcello Diomede committing to Ohio State as a walk-on.

Before joining the Buckeyes, Diomede spent three seasons at Notre Dame, though he missed his lone field goal attempt for the Irish — a 54-yarder in a 35-14 win over Virginia on Nov. 16, 2024.

The Glen Ellyn, Ill., native kicked in 10 total games throughout his career at Notre Dame, making three of four extra point attempts and booting 17 kickoffs for 1,088 yards, including 11 touchbacks.

The 6-1, 195-pound kicker will have two years of eligibility remaining at Ohio State.

Ohio State previously added Baylor transfer kicker Connor Hawkins on Jan. 14, before Charlotte (N.C.) Corvian Community kicker Cooper Peterson committed to the Buckeyes nine days later as a preferred walk-on in the 2026 recruiting class.

The addition continues to bolster Ohio State’s kicker depth with the loss of three-year starting kicker Jayden Fielding and Jackson Courville, who transferred to Tulane after one season with the Buckeyes.
