Lincoln Kienholz And Jaylen McClain Among Eight Summer “Iron Buckeyes”

After a summer full of workouts, Ohio State has revealed eight players who were named “Iron Buckeyes”. Quarterback Lincoln Kienholz and safety Jaylen McClain, who are both entrenched in position battles in fall camp, were two of the eight.
Along with Kienholz and McClain were wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate, offensive lineman Austin Siereveld, defensive end Kenyatta Jackson Jr., and linebackers Sonny Styles and Payton Pierce.
Smith, Siereveld and Styles were the three Iron Buckeyes on the team in the spring and each of them kept up their hard work throughout the summer and were recognized for it yet again. This is the second consecutive season Styles has been a summer Iron Buckeye as well.
Kienholz being on the list is significant since he is in the midst of a QB battle with redshirt freshman Julian Sayin, and head coach Ryan Day said in his Thursday press conference that the first place he wants his quarterbacks to earn respect from the rest of their team is in the weight room, and Kienholz has obviously done that.
Jackson appearing as an Iron Buckeye comes as no surprise after the way his teammates and head coach were speaking about him at Big Ten media days.
