Kenyatta Jackson Jr. “Working Toward” Playing Against Grambling State

After going down with an injury in the third quarter of the season-opening win over No. 1 Texas, Kenyatta Jackson Jr. is apparently trying to get back for the Grambling State game on Saturday.

“No real update other than he’s working toward getting back to play in this game.”

Day said postgame on Aug. 30 that it didn’t seem like Jackson’s injury would be long term, but it still seems like a real possibility that this week would be an opportune time for the redshirt junior to watch from the sideline and rest.

“I don’t think I can come out and say what exactly it was, but they took his helmet away, and we’ll evaluate how that is moving forward,” Day said after the game on Saturday. “But I don’t see it being a long-term injury.”

Day’s non-answer on Jackson in his Tuesday pressor still leaves the door open for Jackson to sit out this week, but it does seem like the defensive end will be back on the field soon.
