J.K. Dobbins Passes Eddie George For Most Single-Season Rushing Yards In Ohio State History
Junior running back J.K. Dobbins is now atop the single-season rushing yard list in Ohio State history.
With his 99th rushing yard in the College Football Playoff semifinal game against Clemson — giving him 1,928 yards on the ground for the season — Dobbins surpassed Eddie George’s 1995 season for the most rushing yards in one season in program history.
The record comes after a down sophomore season where Dobbins rushed for only 1,053 yards and 10 touchdowns on 4.4 yards per carry after a freshman campaign in which he ran for 1,453 yards and seven scores on 7.2 yards per carry.
Coming into the game against the Tigers, Dobbins had brought back the magic from his first year, rushing for 6.5 yards per carry in 53 more rushes than he had in 2018.
Though Dobbins now is No. 1 for most yards in an individual year, he is still firmly in No. 2 for the most rushing yards over a career in Ohio State history. That record is held by Archie Griffin, who rushed for 5,589 yards while he was with the Buckeyes.
