Inniss, McClain, Smith, Stover Named Iron Buckeyes

Four Buckeyes were named “Iron Buckeyes” for their effort in the weight room over the winter on Friday.
Senior receiver Brandon Inniss, junior receiver Jeremiah Smith, sophomore safety Jaylen McClain and sophomore linebacker Garrett Stover were the four players to be named Iron Buckeyes.
The Iron Buckeye honor is given out by strength and conditioning coach Mick Marotti to players who show “unquestionable training, dedication, determination, discipline, toughness and leadership.”
Smith and McClain have solidified themselves as two of the hardest workers within the program. Smith has been named an Iron Buckeye four consecutive times during his Ohio State career, while McClain has earned the honor twice.
Inniss hadn’t previously been named an Iron Buckeye, but considering he was named a team captain last year, it’s no surprise his work ethic was rewarded.
Stover is the most surprising player to be named Iron Buckeye. Despite being a top-150-ranked prospect out of high school, Stover hasn’t yet made much of an impact at Ohio State. For his career, Stover has just five total tackles in 18 games played. However, the Iron Buckeye honor may be a sign that Stover will receive more playing time in his third year with the program.
