Highlights: Ohio State Trounces Maryland, 73-14

Even with star defensive end Chase Young’s eligibility hanging in the balance, Ohio State showed no signs of slowing down against their latest Big Ten victim, the Maryland Terrapins. In fact, the Buckeyes looked as good as they have all year, dominating the Terps for four quarters on the way to a 73-14 win that does nothing but increase the excitement for the Buckeyes to move past the final weak part of their schedule next week against Rutgers and onto more worthy opponents.

It was another week led by highlights for the Buckeyes, including seven sacks despite the loss of the aforementioned Heisman contending defensive end. Davon Hamilton kicked off the fireworks with a sack on the first possession, and the defense never looked back after that.

Ohio State found the end zone on the following drive, with Justin Fields hitting a wide open Binjimen Victor for the first score of the game.

Justin Fields took it himself for the next score, giving Ohio State an early 14-0 lead.

While the Buckeyes were already rolling, Ryan Day exacted a little revenge on Maryland for last year’s game, dialing up a perfect onside kick.

The Buckeyes would score shortly after on a quick pass to K.J. Hill.

The Buckeye sack party didn’t have just one occupant in the first quarter, as Tuf Borland got on the board with a massive hit.

Then, as expected, Ohio State struck again, this time to Chris Olave in the back of the end zone off of a broken coverage.

Two more sacks gave Ohio State four for the first half, and set up J.K. Dobbins for a pair of pretty scores. Dobbins, along with all of the other starters would only play the first half, but were still able to accumulate great stats.

Even with the backup units in the game, the second half was much of the same. Ohio State struck early on a pretty pass from Chris Chugunov.

The defense picked up another sack thanks to Zach Harrison.

Sacks weren’t the only big plays for the defense either, with K’Vaughan Pope grabbing his first interception of his career, in front of a very excited Al Washington.

Demario McCall found the end zone twice in the final period following a Marcus Crowley injury as the Buckeyes never looked back.

The 9-0 Buckeyes next take the field in Piscataway, New Jersey against Rutgers on Nov. 16.
