Four-Star Point Guard Marcus Johnson Decommits From Ohio State

Nearly a week after gaining a five-star recruit, Ohio State men’s basketball had a recruit decommit from its 2026 class.
Four-star point guard Marcus Johnson decommitted from the Buckeyes after being the first pledge for head coach Jake Diebler a year and a half ago. He committed to Ohio State in April of 2024.
The Cleveland Garfield Heights prospect is ranked the No. 47 player in the country, the No. 4 point guard and the No. 3 player in the state of Ohio. His decision comes just six days after five-star small forward Anthony Thompson chose the Buckeyes in his recruitment.
The Buckeyes still have two commits in the class, with Thompson and four-star power forward Alex Smith pledged. The early signing period for men’s basketball begins on Nov. 12.
It’s unclear at this point whether the Buckeyes will still be an option for Johnson moving forward, or where else he will be considering.
