Four-Star Athlete Legend Bey Granted Release From Tennessee

After signing with Tennessee on the first day of the early signing period, four-star athlete Legend Bey has been released from his scholarship agreement, per his request.

Bey has been consistent in his commitment to the Buckeyes, even on signing day when he ended up with the Volunteers. He signed with Tennessee on Dec. 3 due to pressure from his mother, who reportedly wouldn’t sign the documents needed for Bey to go to Ohio State.

Now that he has been released from his agreement with Tennessee, he will be free to sign with Ohio State when he turns 18 on Dec. 24, which he has said he intends to do.

Bey flipped from Tennessee to Ohio State in November before flipping back on signing day, but it seems likely now that he will be a Buckeye by the time January rolls around. He has posted images of himself wearing Ohio State gear, even after he signed with Tennessee.

Bey will be a strong addition to the Buckeyes’ 2026 recruiting class if he does end up in Columbus. As the No. 175 player in the country, Bey was recruited primarily by running backs coach Carlos Locklyn, and will likely be used as a running back, wide receiver and returner when he’s with the Buckeyes.

He was a quarterback for his his school team at North Forney, Texas, but his speed makes him a threat from anywhere on the field. Bey also runs track and posted a 100-meter time of 10.23 as a junior, which might remind Ohio State fans of former Buckeye Ted Ginn Jr., who had similar speed coming out of high school. Bey has also been timed at 4.33 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

He joins four-star Favour Akih in the 2026 class at the running back position.
