Former Ohio State Wide Receiver Parris Campbell Retires From The NFL

Former Ohio State wide receiver Parris Campbell is calling it a career.
The Dallas Cowboys announced on Wednesday that they placed Campbell on the reserve/retired list after the receiver informed the team that he would be retiring from the NFL after seven years in the league.
Campbell spent five years with Ohio State from 2014-18, redshirting his first season in which he played one game for the eventual national champions. He then played in eight games in 2015, but didn’t record a catch.
In 2016, he played in 13 games and finished with 13 receptions for 121 yards and a rushing touchdown on 54 yards on the ground.
He was more of a dual threat in 2017 when he caught 40 passes for 584 yards and three scores while also running the ball 10 times for 132 yards and another touchdown. Then, as a senior, he had 90 catches for 1,063 yards and 12 touchdowns with former OSU quarterback Dwayne Haskins throwing to him.
His 90-catch season was a single-season record at Ohio State until Jaxon Smith-Njigba broke it in 2021 with 95 receptions.
Campbell was then drafted with the 59th overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts, with whom he played for over four years. With the Colts, he had a total of 97 catches for 983 yards and five touchdowns.
He then spent three years in the NFC East, each with a different team. First, he spent a season with the New York Giants in 2023 before playing with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024 — winning a Super Bowl there — and the Dallas Cowboys in 2025. He made it into just one game with Dallas and didn’t record a catch due to a knee injury.
