Former Ohio State Receivers Taken Back-To-Back-To-Back

For the second time in three years, former Buckeyes went back-to-back-to-back at the NFL Draft.

When the New York Jets selected Garrett Wilson with the No. 10 overall pick, the NFL franchise kicked off a string of three consecutive former Ohio State wide receivers. The Washington Commanders initially had the No. 11 overall pick but traded it to the New Orleans Saints, who chose the Buckeyes’ all-time receiving touchdowns leader Chris Olave.

The Detroit Lions followed suit with the Saints and traded up for a receiver, taking Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams with the No. 12 overall pick. Williams spent his first two collegiate seasons with the Buckeyes before transferring and playing for the Crimson Tide.

When the Lions chose Williams, it marked the second time in three years that former Ohio State players were taken with three consecutive picks. In 2020, quarterback Joe Burrow, defensive end Chase Young and cornerback Jeff Okudah went as the first three picks in the NFL Draft.
