Former NFL Head Coach Jon Gruden Announced As Guest Speaker For Ohio State’s 2026 Coaches Clinic

Former Oakland/ Las Vegas Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden will join Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, offensive and defensive coordinators Arthur Smith and Matt Patricia, as well as multiple other Buckeye coaches, as a featured speaker at Ohio State’s 2026 coaches clinic.
The coaches’ clinic will be held from April 16 to 18 at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, concluding with Ohio State’s spring game on April 18 and marking the end of spring practice, which begins on March 10.
Gruden began his head coaching tenure with the Oakland Raiders from 1998-2001 before he was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a blockbuster deal that included two first-round picks, two second-round picks and $8 million in cash. Hailing from Sandusky, Ohio, Gruden led the Buccaneers to a 48-21 victory over his former Raiders squad in Super Bowl XXXVII and compiled a 57-55 record over seven seasons with Tampa Bay from 2002-08.
Gruden returned as the Raiders’ head coach in 2018, guiding the team for two more seasons in Oakland and for slightly over two years following their move to Las Vegas at the end of the 2019 season.
He ultimately resigned in 2021 after a 3-2 start to the regular season due to a scandal revealing he sent inappropriate emails spanning from 2011-18. Gruden totaled a 117-112 record in 14 full seasons (and five games in 2021) as a head coach.
Gruden also served as a color commentator on ESPN’s Monday Night Football from 2009-18 and now works as a media personality for Barstool Sports.
