Former Kansas State Quarterback Will Howard Will Reportedly Visit Ohio State
Former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard will visit Ohio State according to Pete Thamel of ESPN after he entered the transfer portal after the conclusion of the regular season.
Howard, who has one more year of eligibility, has started in 27 games with the Wildcats over four years, accumulating 5,786 passing yards, 48 touchdowns and 25 interceptions to go with 934 rushing yards, and 19 touchdowns on the ground.
2023 was his best season with Kansas State, racking up 2,643 yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, adding 351 yards and nine touchdowns with his legs, but he didn’t play in the Pop-Tarts Bowl which the Wildcats won 28-19 over NC State.
Thamel reported that Howard has also visited Miami (Fla.) and USC so far since he decided to transfer, but he is also still considering entering his name into the NFL Draft.
After 12-game starter Kyle McCord entered the transfer portal, ending up with Syracuse, the Buckeyes quarterbacks didn’t make enough of an impact in the Cotton Bowl for Ohio State to go into the 2024 season with just Devin Brown, Lincoln Kienholz and Air Noland. Ryan Day said they will be searching every option to make the team better in 2024.
In the Cotton Bowl, Brown and Kienholz combined for 106 passing yards and no touchdowns.
“We’ve got to figure out what’s best for the team moving forward,” Day said immediately after the 14-3 loss to Missouri. “That’s in a lot of areas. We’ve got to take a hard look at that and get that figured out, but everything will be looked at.”
Howard would be the only transfer quarterback to visit Ohio State this offseason so far. The only player the Buckeyes have added through the transfer portal so far has been tight end Will Kacmarek, who played at Ohio University for three years.
